The Elene Akhvlediani memorial house-museum was established in 1976. 

Akhvlediani was a Georgian artist, whose house, which preserves a typical 20^th century Georgian interior, contains her paintings, drawings, theater sketches, costumes, photos, and personal archives. During her lifetime, Akhvlediani regularly invited the public into her home for themed and personal exhibition evenings. She created a welcoming place for gatherings of prominent artists and Tbilisi creatives. 

She bequeathed her house to the museum, where its unique atmosphere, rich traditions and artworks are still preserved for the public.
