ADISHI, SVANETI

Showcasing Svanetian Beauty

Svaneti has long been known as one of the most beautiful areas of Georgia thanks to its rich history and spellbinding landscapes. A small mountain village in Svaneti, Adishi does not disappoint. Located at 2040m above sea-level, the village is brimming with culture and nature and offers visitors stunning mountain views and hiking opportunities. Adishi is located to the northeast of the magnificent snow-peaked Mount Adishi, a 4,290-meter high mountain, and the 9-kilometer long Adishi glacier.

After a long day hiking in the region, visitors can step into one of the village’s four tranquil churches. The two St. George churches and the Archangel church date back to the 12th century, whilst the Liberator Church was constructed in the 10th and 11th century.

Many hikers pass through Adishi as it lies between Mestia and Ushguli. Accommodation in the village is limited, but there are a few comfortable guesthouses. The slow trickle of tourism is a welcome source of income for the local villagers.
