DEMNA GVASALIA NAMED ACCESSORIES DESIGNER OF THE YEAR

The British Fashion Council’s Fashion Awards took place on Monday in London, uniting celebrities, models, fashion designers and pronounced leaders within the industry.

Unveiling their jaw-dropping gowns and suits, celebrities walked down the red carpet in hopes of nabbing an award for the current year, including new Givenchy designer Clare Waight Keller, who was awarded by the surprise guest, Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle.

The awards didn’t leave the talented, Georgian-based Creative Director of Balenciaga behind and awarded him the Accessories Designer of the Year.

Before taking over Balenciaga as a Creative Director, Demna Gvasalia led the team at Maison Martin Margiela and Louis Vuitton. Currently, he takes on the role as Head Designer for Vetements, a luxury French Brand specializing in premium collections for both women and men. Demna has gained worldwide recognition through his philosophy of embedding bold attitude and unique style, especially after imprinting the Soviet Regime and a fight for freedom on his Spring 2019 collection. Demna was awarded the British Fashion Council Award in 2016 and was also nominated in the International Award category for CFDA 2017.
